decker_race.jpgIn today’s economy everything changes in an instant. Gas prices, food prices, and cost of admission are factors for race fans alike whether it’s at the local short track or on the national level. The Holland Motorsports Complex in partnership with Barry and Phyllis Decker has put together the George Decker Memorial 100 for the Getzoni Nationwide Insurance Pro Modifieds every season since the year 2000.

Over the past twelve seasons, Barry and Phyllis Decker have done everything in their power to support this race in memory of husband and father George. Racing is a tradition and the potential of sponsorships is there in order to continue the tradition. “The George Decker Memorial is the premier race for the open-wheeled Pro Modified/Sportsman type of cars in the region” says Holland General Manager Timothy Bennett. “This event is a staple on the Holland schedule and has been for quite sometime” stated Holland PR Director Steven Petty.

Over the years many top drivers have won the perpetual trophy for winning the George Decker Memorial. Former track champion Neal Dietz, Jr. has won the race three times while Steve Kreitzbender and Jeff Price have each won the event twice. Both Steve Hoxie and 2011 winner Kirk Totten made the event their first career feature wins. Whelen Modified tour regular Patrick Emerling and Race of Champions Modified tour regular Earl Paules have also won this prestigious event.

“My mother Phyllis and I put on the race in memory of my father George. It has grown over the years to become one of the most prestigious events for the competitors “, commented Barry Decker. He continued saying that “in past years we have had as many as 36 cars competing for the Will to Win Decker Memorial perpetual Trophy”. The Decker’s goal for this season is to raise in excess of $10,000. The Deckers continued to say that “we need your help. We need your support. Your name, product, business, and service will be exposed to many competitors, crews, families and fans from Western New York, Southern Ontario and beyond. Everything we receive goes to the drivers for this event. Your assistance is greatly appreciated in making this event a success”.

Sponsorships are available at many different levels from lap sponsorship to event sponsorships. Lap sponsorship starts at just $25 per lap. Event sponsorship starts at $100 at the bronze level, $250 for silver, $500 for gold and $1000 for platinum. All event sponsorships have incentives at each level which includes tickets to the event.

The 2012 edition of the George Decker Memorial 100 will take place on Saturday July 14. Also on the card will be a full NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Program featuring the Getzoni Nationwide Insurance Pro Modifieds, McClurg Auto Group Late Models, Bank of Holland Chargers, M&M U Pull It Figure 8’s, NASCAR Hornets and the Caseys Truck Salvage TQ Midget Series.

Check out the Holland Motorsports Complex on Facebook as weekly specials and news on upcoming events will be seen on the track’s social media page for the racetrack and the all new Holland Paintball Adventure Park. The Holland Motorsports Complex will open for its 53rd consecutive season of racing with a Sunday afternoon event on May 20, 2012 before shifting to the regular Saturday evening schedule on May 26, 2012.
