The 55th season of racing operations in the hills of Holland is being planned with dates being announced for the 2014 registration party and Opening Day. The registration party will be on Sunday, March 2from 1-3 pm at the Holland Willows. The 55th season opener presented by McKinley Mall will take place on Saturday, May 24 with racing getting underway at 7:05 pm.

The 2013 season officially came to a close with the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series banquet held at the NASCAR Hall of Fame in Charlotte, North Carolina. Holland was represented by 2013 Getzoni Agency NASCAR Pro Modified Champion George Skora III. All of the staff and management would like to congratulate all of the NASCAR Champions on their great seasons, including New York State NASCAR Champion Jimmy Zacharias.

NASCAR released some new initiatives for the 2014 Whelen NASCAR All-American Series at the Track Operators meetings in Charlotte. According to a recent press release, “starting next season, a national champion will be crowned in all five divisions of the series.” This means that all of Holland’s weekly divisions will be honored at the end of the season. Also, the points system has changed slightly as well starting in 2014. “Drivers will receive two points for every car they finish ahead of in an event, up to 18 cars and three bonus points will be awarded to a race winner with a single-digit starting position and five points will be awarded to a race winner with a double-digit starting position”, the press release stated. “These changes were based on feedback from our competitors, track operators and fans,” said Bob Duvall, senior director, business development for NASCAR. “We feel this will bring an added element to our track’s weekly shows, and we’re already looking forward to an exciting 2014 season.”

Speedway management would also like to send out congratulations to Steve Petty, the tracks Director of Public and Media Relations on receiving the Media Award from the Friends of Auto Racing Club (FOAR SCORE). Petty also has his own racing column in the Gater Racing News.
