Race into Reading this summer

In partnership with the Buffalo & Erie County Public Library, the Holland NASCAR Motorsports Complex is working together to gets kids reading this summer. Over the next few days, all 37 libraries in the Buffalo & Erie County Public Library System kick-off their “Dig into Reading” summer reading programs for school age children.

If any child that is in the “Dig into Reading” Program and if they read any two (2) books, they will receive free tickets to the Speedway. “Last summer, more than 40,000 children participated in the program and we expect more this year” said Joy Testa Cinquino, the Assistant Deputy Director of Development and Communications for the Buffalo & Erie County Public Library System.

The library is encouraging all participating children and their families to come to Library Night at the Races on Saturday August 10. That evening’s racing program is featuring the McClurg Auto Group NASCAR Late Models in a 50 lap special. A full card of the NASCAR Whelen-All American Series program will also be in competition featuring the Getzoni Nationwide Insurance Agency NASCAR Pro Modifieds, Bank of Holland Chargers, M&M U Pull-It Figure 8’s, the 4 Cylinder NASCAR Hornets and the NYPAMA TQ Midgets. The visiting Big 10 Super Stock Series are returning for their second event of the 2013 season on the Holland highbanks.

The Buffalo & Erie County Public Library System has more than 2.6 million materials available for borrowing including books, e-Books, DVD’s, music and more. Free Library Card applications are available for downloading online and can be taken to any of the 37-local public libraries for processing, including the Central Library in Lafayette Square in Downtown Buffalo.
