Racing Into the Heat of Summer

The heat of the summer has been turned on and the racing will be hot throughout the “dog days of summer” including this coming Saturday night on Bobcat of Buffalo Night at the Holland NASCAR Motorsports Complex. On the racing card will be the Getzoni Nationwide Insurance NASCAR Pro Modifieds, McClurg Auto Group Late Models, Bank of Holland Chargers, M&M U Pull It Figure 8’s, NASCAR 4 Cylinder Hornets and a scheduled appearance by the Cup Lite Series. Also on the card will be the annual Road Warriors race for area highway superintendents.

This past Saturday Night, Ben Russo was victorious in the 50 lap special for the 4 Cylinder Hornets while Waverly, NY competitor Lee Sharpsteen led from green to checker to pick up the victory for the traveling Big 10 Super Stock Series. Second generation driver Kirk Totten from Barker, NY won his first Getzoni Agency Pro Modified feature of the season while defending McClurg Auto Group Late Model Champion Eldon King III notched his second win of the 2013 campaign. Hamburg, NY driver and former Bank of Holland Charger Champion Dave Wilson Jr picked up his first win of the season while third generation driver Camden Barber won the NYPAMA TQ Midget feature. Jason Adams won his first M&M U Pull-It Figure 8 car event of the year.

Admission prices are $12 for adults, Students (ages 8-15) are $7 and ages 7 & under are always FREE! Our Family Pass which for just $25, two adults and all children 15 and under living in the same household can enjoy the night at the races.

Pit gates will open at 3:30pm with front gates opening at 4:45 and qualifying will get underway at 5:00pm. NASCAR Racing will begin promptly at 7:05pm.

In partnership with the Buffalo & Erie County Public Library, the Holland NASCAR Motorsports Complex is working together to gets kids reading this summer. Over the next few days, all 37 libraries in the Buffalo & Erie County Public Library System kick-off their “Dig into Reading” summer reading programs for school age children.

If any child that is in the “Dig into Reading” Program and if they read any two (2) books, they will receive free tickets to the Speedway. “Last summer, more than 40,000 children participated in the program and we expect more this year” said Joy Testa Cinquino, the Assistant Deputy Director of Development and Communications for the Buffalo & Erie County Public Library System.

The library is encouraging all participating children and their families to come to Library Night at the Races on Saturday August 10. That evening’s racing program is featuring the McClurg Auto Group NASCAR Late Models in a 50 lap special. A full card of the NASCAR Whelen-All American Series program will also be in competition featuring the Getzoni Nationwide Insurance Agency NASCAR Pro Modifieds, Bank of Holland Chargers, M&M U Pull-It Figure 8’s, the 4 Cylinder NASCAR Hornets and the NYPAMA TQ Midgets. The visiting Big 10 Super Stock Series are returning for their second event of the 2013 season on the Holland highbanks.
