On Thursday June 12, there will be a display featuring some of the competitors that compete on the historic Holland highbanks outside Women &Children’s Hospital, located at 219 Bryant Street in Buffalo. The display is for the children and families that are at the Hospital and also those in the Stone’s Buddies program. The program is for chronically ill children at the hospital and was created in memory of former patient Stone Filipovich.

According to the Stone’s Buddies website, “the mission of the Stone’s Buddies program is to provide a network of resources, support, friendship and fun for the many “frequent flyers” that regularly use our institution. The program is for children with life-threatening illness as well as the patients who struggle daily with special needs and feelings of isolation due to the nature of their chronic illness”. The display will begin at approximately 10:30 am.

“We are honored to be working alongside Women & Children’s Hospital and we are humbled for the opportunity to give the children at the hospital a reason to smile and for them to feel the excitement of NASCAR racing” stated Holland Public Relations director Steven Petty.

On Saturday July 12, the Race for Children’s will take place on the highbanks. Children’s Hospital patients and families will be the very special guests and everyone in Western New York is invited to attend the race at a discounted ticket price of $10. $5 from every ticket purchased will benefit the new John R. Oishei Children’s Hospital.

The evening’s activities will include a racing card that will feature the Four Cylinder Hornets in a 50 lap special. The Getzoni Nationwide Insurance Agency NASCAR Pro Modifieds, Bank of Holland Chargers, NYPA TQ Midgets, Future Fours and M&M U Pull-It Figure 8’s will complete the racing program. It is also mid-season championships for all of Holland’s racing divisions. Racing will begin that week with qualifying at 5:00 pm and NASCAR feature racing at 7:05 pm.
