RoC Mods Set for Holland Assault Saturday, July 5

The Race of Champions (RoC) Modified Tour is making their annual trek to the hills of Holland on Saturday, July 5 for a 100 lap event. The RoC Tour race at Holland will also feature the NASCAR Getzoni Nationwide Insurance Pro Modifieds, Bank of Holland Chargers, Hornets and TQ Midgets. A holiday fireworks display will cap off the evening of racing at the historic Southern Erie County facility.

In the previous two visits by the RoC Tour, Northampton, Pennsylvania pilot Matt Hirschman has won on both occasions. Last year’s race will be remembered for the incident on the front stretch between Patrick Emerling and Andy Jankowiak, when they hit the flag stand.

The 2014 RoC Tour has been dominated by Hirschman, who was victorious at Chemung, Shangri-La II, and Oswego to start the season three-for-three. Williamson, NY driver Mike Leaty used his home-track knowledge to take home the victory when the tour visited the Spencer Speedway and Chuck Hossfeld won the Tour event held at Elegant Builders Raceway Park in Lancaster. Coming into the race at Holland, Matt Hirschman holds a 15 point lead over Ransomville, NY campaigner Chuck Hossfeld. “The Hotshoe” was victorious at the RoC Tour’s last event, held at Elegant Builders Raceway Park. Sitting third in points is young gun Austin Kochenash. Kochenash has an eight point margin over Orchard Park’s Patrick Emerling, Fifth in Tour points is Southern-Tier standout and defending New York State NASCAR Champion Jimmy Zacharias.

The race at Holland will feature some of the best Modified pilots in the Northeast plus Western New York standouts. Defending Holland Pro Modified Champion George Skora III will be in competition as well as 2012 track titlist Andy Jankowiak. Sam Fullone, a multi-time Holland Late Model winner will return to the highbanks to compete as well.

The RoC is awarding the top finishing two barrel carb Modified team. They will be awarded a $500 bonus presented by the Gater Racing News.

The Getzoni Agency NASCAR Pro Modifieds, Bank of Holland Chargers, Hornets and NYPA TQ Midgets will complete the racing card. A holiday fireworks display will end the night. Pit Gates will open at 2:30, grandstand gates open at 4:45 and racing will get underway at 6:00 pm. Admission is $22 for adults, student ages 10-15 $10, kids 5-9 $5 and ages four and under are free. A family pass is also available, which is for two adults and two students, for $59. Free camping is available only on the perimeter of the parking lot.
