“Thunder in the hills” will be returning to the historic Holland NASCAR Motorsports Complex when the 56th consecutive season of racing gets underway on Saturday, May 23.
The 2015 campaign officially kicked off with the Registration Party at the Holland Willows on March 1. Speedway General Manager Tim Bennett introduced Norm Frazier as the new Chief Tech Inspector. Norm has worked on several top Late Model teams at Holland over the years including Bobby Weber and the brother duo of Vern and Mark Bliss. Both Vern and Mark Bliss went on to win the New York State NASCAR Championships with Norm by their side. “His experience will make him a great addition to the Holland team” stated Bennett. Frazier will be busy during the tracks pre-season thunder Practice Session on Saturday, May 16 from 12:00 to 4:00 pm.
Just like in 2014, Holland will be hosting two car shows at popular Western New York shopping malls. The first show will take place from Saturday, April 18 through April 25 at the Eastern Hills Mall in Williamsville, NY while the second show will run from Saturday, May 2 through May 9 at McKinley Mall in Hamburg, NY. Move in days for both shows will be on the Friday before the start of the show. Both shows will be awarding bonus points to those who participate.
The 56th Opening Day presented by McKinley Mall will take place on Saturday, May 23. Opening Day will feature the complete NASCAR Whelen All American Series Program which includes the Getzoni Nationwide Insurance NASCAR Pro Modifieds, Late Models, Bank of Holland Chargers, Howdy’s Hornets, Future Fours, NYPAMA TQ Midgets and the M&M U Pull-It Figure 8’s.
New to Holland in 2015 is the Rusty Wallace Driving Experience (April 26, June 27-28). Anyone interested in participating in the Rusty Wallace Driving Experience can use the promo code HOLLAND15 for discounts on experience packages.
Coming back to Holland for another two shows is the always exciting Crash-A-Rama. “The Wildest Show on Wheels” returns for two nights of destruction on Saturday, June 13 and September 12 starting at 6:30pm sharp. Fans are encouraged to purchase their tickets to Crash-A-Rama online. The popular School Bus Figure 8 race, Boat-Trailer Race, Demolition Derby and the Enduro plus many more events are all on the card. New to the spring edition of Crash-A-Rama will be the brand new Stunt Wars!
Besides the racing on the historic 3/8th’s highbanks, Holland will be hosting the two day Buffalo Craft Brew Fest during the 4th of July Weekend. Camping will be available that weekend as beer tasting, entertainment and fireworks will highlight this event. Holland also hosts the Buffalo Drift Culture for drifting open practices. Drifting will be taking place on Sunday, May 24, Sunday, July 19, Sunday, August 16 and Saturday, September 19 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm..
The Holland NASCAR Motorsports Complex General Rulebook and Divisional Rulebook is available for all divisions and can be downloaded through the track’s website. Anyone that has questions regarding the rulebook is encouraged to contact the Speedway Office.
