Holland Releases 2015 Schedule and Rule Book; Bennett added to NASCAR Hall of Fame Nominating
The 56th consecutive season of racing in the hills of Holland is just a few months away and speedway management has put the final touches on the 2015 schedule as well as the 2015 rule book. Both are available for download by logging onto www.hollandspeedway.com.
The season will officially kick off with the annual The Registration Party is set for Sunday, March 1 at the Holland Willows. Speedway officials will be on hand to answer any questions you may have. You can register car numbers and purchase NASCAR and Holland licenses and sign up for pit pads and priority gold passes.
The 56th Opening Day presented by McKinley Mall will take place on Saturday, May 23. Opening Day will feature the complete NASCAR Whelen All American Series Program featuring the Getzoni Nationwide Insurance NASCAR Pro Modifieds, Late Models, Bank of Holland Chargers, Hornets, Future Fours, NYPAMA TQ Midgets and the M&M U Pull-It Figure 8’s.
The schedule is jam-packed with extra distance races. The Hornets will have a 50 lap shootout on Saturday, June 6. The annual 50 lap main event for the Bank of Holland Chargers is slated for June 20, the same night as the annual Bank of Holland Gold Rush, a tradition that dates back to the track’s early days. July 18 will feature the Pro Modifieds in twin-25’s. Saturday, August 1 is the 15th running of the George Decker Memorial Pro Modified 100. Saturday, August 8 is the night for the Late Models to shine in a 50 lap event. The first Saturday of September will see the Pro Modifieds battle another 100 lap feature under the lights in the running of a Labor Day Weekend tradition, the Yuengling Light Lager 100.
On Saturday, July 11, the mighty Race of Champions Modified Tour will return for the running of the Holland 100. Last year’s exciting event saw second generation driver Andy Jankowiak score his first career RoC victory as he passed 2014 RoC Tour Champion Chuck Hossfeld and past race winner and series titlist Matt Hirschman late in the race to pick up the win.
Just like in 2014, Holland will be hosting two car shows at popular Western New York shopping malls. The first show will take place from April 18 through 25 at the Eastern Hills Mall in Williamsville, New York while the second show will run from May 2 through 9 at McKinley Mall in Hamburg, New York. Move in days for both shows will be the Friday before the start of each show. Drivers will earn bonus points for participation in each show.
New to Holland in 2015 is the Rusty Wallace Driving Experience. Experience the driving schools on April 26, June 27 and 28. Anyone interested in participating in the Rusty Wallace Driving Experience can use the promo code HOLLAND15 for discounts on experience packages.
Coming back to Holland for another two shows is the always exciting Crash-A-Rama. “The Wildest Show on Wheels” returns for two nights of destruction on Saturday, June 13 and September 12 starting at 6:30 pm. Fans are encouraged to purchase their tickets to Crash-A-Rama online to avoid the long lines at the box office the days of the event. The popular School Bus Figure 8 race, Boat-Trailer Race, Demolition Derby and the Enduro plus many more events are all on the card.
Besides the racing on the historic 3/8th’s highbanks, Holland also hosts the Buffalo Drift Culture for drifting open practices. Drifting events are scheduled for Sunday, May 24, Sunday, July 19, Sunday, August 16 and Saturday, September 19. All practices run from 1:00 to 4:00 pm. “Holland is unique track for drifting and seeing the drivers from Buffalo Drift Culture take to the highbanks is something to see” added Petty.
Track owner Ron Bennett was recently added to the NASCAR Hall of Fame (NHOF) Nominating Committee. Bennett will join Hall of Fame Director Winston Kelly, NASCAR Chairman and CEO Brian France, President Mike Helton, and other committee members in Daytona Beach, Florida to discuss, debate, and vote for the 20 NHOF Class of 2016 nominees and five nominees for the second Landmark Award for Outstanding Contributions to NASCAR. The results will be announced during Speedweeks at Daytona International Speedway.
