Tommy Catalano Headlines Holland Winners List

HOLLANDNY… Tommy Catalano from Ontario, NY continued his winning ways Saturday night at the Holland Motorsports Complex as he picked up his sixth feature win on the season for the Getzoni Nationwide Insurance Pro Modifieds on Driver Appreciation Night. Brandon Glover from Cuba, NY won the main event for the Seneca Niagara Casino Late Models.  Eric Brown from Holland, NY picked up the win in the Bank of Holland Chargers. Kyle Hutchinson from East Aurora, NY won the main event for the Jerry Gradl Motors NYPA TQ Midgets. Jeremy Haudricourt from Bliss, NY won the main event for the INEX Legends.  Timmy Catalano from Ontario, NY earned his third Hornet victory of the season. Carter Mook from Fairview, PA won the E-Mod feature event for his first career Holland win. Maddy Virts from Fairport, NY picked up her first career Future 4 victory in her first career race. Shane Toms from Buffalo, NY earned the victory in the M&M U Pull-It Figure 8’s.


Randy Jazembeck passed pole sitter Alan Bookmiller early on in the feature event for the Getzoni Nationwide Insurance Agency Pro Modifieds. Amy Catalano would move into second and then would go after Jazembeck. Tommy Catalano passed Bookmiller for third place and then  passed mother Amy for second and passed Jazembeck for the lead on lap 10.With Catalano into the lead, Amy Catalano passed Jazembeck for second, following her son and then would go after Tommy for the race lead. She would finally be able to pass Tommy with seven laps to go and it looked like she was on her way to score the victory, but Tommy went back to the outside of the speedway and would regain the lead the lead with five laps remaining. Tommy would hold off challenges by his mother to score the win, his sixth of the season.

JD Roberts led from the green flag in the Seneca Niagara Casino Late Models main event. Brandon Glover would take over the lead on lap four, passing Roberts coming off of turn four. With the top two in complete control of the event, Josh Hathaway and Eric Brown would put on a great side by side battle for much of the feature distance. Glover would drive away from Roberts to collect the victory.

Tom Northem led from the outset in the Bank of Holland Chargers feature event. A chain reaction incident occurred in turn four as Ken Maltby spun in turn four with Tony Billotte and Jerry Kosmowski all involved. All drivers walked away from their racers under their own power. The race restart would see Northem back into the lead over Kris Hamann with Loffredo and Brown giving chase. Brown moved up to second and passed Northem for the lead with nine laps remaining. Paul Faleski spun on the back stretch to bring out the caution with two laps remaining.

Bob Bogner led after passing Butcher Palmer early on in the 25 lap feature event for the Hornets. Timmy Catalano would inherit the lead by lap five. Catalano would run out front over Bogner with Jeff Szafraniec and Ben Russo battling for the third spot. Catalano would have a three second lead over the field and hit lap traffic just after the halfway point. Joe Mastrocicco spun in turn three to bring out the caution with six laps remaining. Catalano would survive the late race restart and hold off the challenges from Bogner, Szafraniec and Russo to pick up the victory, his second on the weekend and his third of 2015 at Holland as he won at Spencer this past Friday night.

Chad Heywood and Erik Musto led the Jerry Gradl Motors NYPA TQ Midgets to the green flag for their 20 lap feature event with Musto taking the lead off the drop of the green flag. Andy Nye would take over second and then would pass Musto for the lead on lap two. Kyle Hutchinson and Dave Wollaber worked their way into the top five after battling Owen Bednasz and Nick Groff. Off the restart, Hutchinson would battle race leader Nye for the lead and the lead duo would pull away from Jonathan Reid and Dave Wollaber. Hutchinson would pass Nye on the white flag lap and Hutchinson would score the win, Reid, Wollaber, and Groff completed the top four as Andy Nye’s car spun in turn four heading to the checkered flag.

Jeremy Haudricourt would take off into the early lead from the drop of the green flag for the INEX Legends feature event. Haudricourt would check out on the rest of the field and would dominate the event. Haudricourt would lead all 20 laps to pick up the win. Carl Vilardo would hold off Brandon DeBrakeleer, Owen Bednasz and Bryce Norton would complete the top five.

Carter Mook would lead from the start of the E-Mods feature event over Chris Briggs. Jake Wylie passed Luke Rutsky for second prior to the halfway mark and would begin chasing down Mook. Mook would hold off Wylie to score the win, the first of his career on the Holland highbanks.

Chuck Kowalske and Travis Murphy led the Future 4’s for their main event with Murphy showing the way. Nikki Maltby would take the lead over just before the halfway mark. Maddy Virts would pass Murphy for second place and then with just three laps remaining, would work her way past Maltby to take over the race lead. Virts, making her first career start at Holland, would drive on to score the victory. In the M&M U Pull It Figure 8’s, Shane Toms led from the opening green flag and held off Jason Adams to score the win.

News and Notes: As part of the Driver Appreciation Night, fans were allowed on the track for the autograph session. The Holland Motorsports Complex is participating with Ingersoll Rand’s promotion involving the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Home Tracks. Holland will return to action on Saturday August 22nd as VSP presents Fire Fighter Family Night. The Midstate Vintage Stock Car Club will make its annual visit to the highbanks and will join the Pro Modifieds, Late Models, Chargers, Hornets, NYPA TQ Midgets, INEX Legends, Future 4’s and the Figure 8’s. Racing action that evening will kick off with qualifying heats at 5:00pm with feature racing taking the green flag at 7:05pm
